Celeste’s antics on the ride home today

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — Crystal @ 3:36 pm

So on the way home from school today we were making animal sounds. We got a bit silly and I asked her what sound different people make. “Bryan makes the sound…?” I said, “Car!” replied Celeste. “Mommy makes the sound…?” I said, “ha ha ha ha” replied Celeste. “Daddy makes the sound..?” I said, “Moo!” replied Celeste.

After that I asked her what she did in school today with her friends. She told me that Hannah was now her friend, and Trent wasn’t. Which was odd, because all she talks about is her friend Trent. After more prodding, I discovered that Trent wasn’t her friend today, becuase he wasn’t in school.

A telephone pole fell down in front of the Southbury Training school today, so we had to detour through the school’s private roads to get around it. When passing what looked like a main building there was a huge lit up Christmas tree. Celeste got all excited and exclaimed… “Chipmunks!” (From the beginning of the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks, when their forest tree got cut down and turned into a Christmas tree.”)

Finally, as we pulled into the driveway I laughed and said, “Celeste you’re really cute today”. She looked at me very seriously and said. “Yes”.

Precious Moments

So after a very late night last night, I woke up groggily to take care of Celeste.  After the morning routine was done I laied down on the couch hoping for a little more relaxation before Bryan woke up.  I did receive it, but with a very sweet interlude.  Celeste came over and noticed a baby on the tv.  She said the baby was cute and I responded with, “Just like your new little baby in mommy’s tummy is going to be.”  She then proceeded to come over to me, lift my shirt say, “Shh! Night night baby” and then give my tummy the gentlest kiss ever!  I thought that was super cute, but then she ran over to the other side of the couch and grabbed her little tiny wind up chick and put it on my tummy so the baby could have a toy to go to bed with.  How sweet!  I can’t wait to see how she is with this baby come November!

If you didn’t already know, based off this message you should have fingured out that we are expecting baby number three in November around the 17th.  We will be 21 weeks along tomorrow and at our 19 week ultrasound the baby was super healthy with a girl heartbeat and weighing in at 10 oz.  Which puts him/her in the 57th percentile for weight.  So much for telling everyone at Bryan’s 1st birthday we were not expecting.  We WERE and just didn’t know it!  We were about 4 weeks along.

No Gluetons, No Soy, No Dairy and more

So things have been pretty eventful.  As you can see by the title our little guy is allergic to one of the above.  We know he has the dairy problem, but he has been having some eczema to go along with it and taking out the glutens and soy may help.  So two weeks of me not eating it should detoxify my body then two weeks more should do the same for him.  We will see if there is a change.  I started this crazy diet full time on the 1st of this month.  So far the hardest thing to cut out is soy.  It is in everything that is processed.  Even some sodas.  Other than that little man is right on target, if not ahead.  He rolls all over the place now and insists on being on his tummy for bedtime, even though we put him on his back and tell him he can’t go on his belly.  He is starting to tripod sit which is very exciting.

Celeste has a little cold right now, or as we really suspect 2 year molars coming in.  We recently took her to a local theme park and she loved it.  I can’t believe how much.  She is really into the boat rides.  Check out the pictures in our gallery.  I can’t wait to go again with her!  I just submitted an inquiry to birth to 3 to make sure she is just a late talker.  At her 2 year old physical, that is all the doctor suspected.  The doctor did hear a heart murmur on Celeste, however she isn’t concerned by it and says it will only be an issue if she hears it next year too.

Everyone else in the house is doing well.. now its off to do some daily chores!

Bryan’s 4 month visit to the pedi & yesterday’s party

Bryan had his 4 month visit today.  He weighs a bit less than our home scale says, but our home scale is me just holding him then subtracting his weight, not to accurate.  He also is usually wearing his clothes.  So he isn’t 16 lbs he’s 15lbs .5 oz  But that is still fine.  He’s grown tons in height.  He is now 25 in compared to the 22 at our last visit.  So he’s in the 50th percentile for weight and 60th for height.  Just perfect.  I put below a time line of his weight and height’s in case you were wondering what the previous #’s were.  He got 4 shots and one oral vaccine all the same ones he got at his 2 month.  He has a little of what I thought was just dry skin on his tummy but the doctor said it is eczema so we got to slather him in Eucerinen cream once a day and only bath him every 2-3 days.

Grandpa L heard Celeste say she had to go potty yesterday and she did it today at the doctors office.  She looked up from playing and said to the pediatrician and I, “I got to pee!” and she then pooped.  Then her next comment was “eeeww!” Really cute but another great sign!  (She didn’t actually pee, just did #2)  🙂  So if you hear it take her to the bathroom!

Yesterday was our baptism/2nd birthday party for Celeste.  It all went really well.  Of course with the exception of Celeste’s free spirit in church 😉  It was a bit stressful setting up and the cakes took forever, but everything turned out wonderful.  My homemade rocket cake and lamb cake turned out amazingly well.  The best I’ve ever done!  I’ll post some pictures soon.  Of course D has all the good church ones, he was our photographer for the day.  Celeste got some wonderful birthday presents and is enjoying them as I type this.  Bryan got some beautiful memento’s and some money which we will use to get him a convertible car-seat like Celeste has, because he hates his infant one.

Doctors, contractors, toddler bed and new blog.. oh my!

First off this is the first “official” post of the new blog.  Everything prior to this was copied over from blogspot.  It is so nice to finally attach our blog to our web address.  So here is my first post!

How are the kids and how is Celeste handling being a big sister?

Since every has asked this question here is the answer! 🙂

Things are going ok. They aren’t as hard as I thought, but not as easy as I thought too. Bryan is a typical baby so far and wakes up 3 times a night to be feed and eats during the day about every 2.5 hours. I finally got photos up of him on our website.  The server was down for a while and that is why there was a delay in getting them up.

Celeste is handling being a big sister differently everyday. All the time she showers him with love and kisses, but either her terrible two’s is starting early or she is acting out for attention. She has tantrums now and redirecting her attention doesn’t seem to work so we are at a loss. We just try to ignore it and let her cry it out.

I can’t wait to re join the play group that we attend I think it would do Celeste wonders, but the pediatrician wants us to wait until he is 8 weeks to rejoin the fun (it doesn’t help my case that flu season is still going strong so far!). So we have another 3.1 weeks to wait until we meet up with everyone again. May 8th (or 15th- depending on his next round of shots) is slated as our first day back into the swing of things.

So it has been a busy 2 days! We are having some siding fixed on our house and an air conditioner and door walled in.

In addition to that Celeste spent her first night her her altered crib. We put up one toddler rail on it in order to start prepping her for the switch to the real bed once Bryan is to big for his bassinet/co-sleeper. We put it together with Grandma and Grandpa Laumiere and took out the diaper changing table and put that into Bryan’s room. We also had tons of baby proofing to do. After Grandma and Grandpa left we put her to bed. She got up and ran to the door as soon as Alan shut the bedroom door and cried for 20 min. Then she got quiet and we checked on her before we went to bed. She was all curled up in a ball on the floor in front of her door and book case with her teddy bear. So Alan picked her up and put her in the bed and that is where she slept till 8 am! So in total 1.5 hours on the floor and 10 hours on the bed! Yea! She is growing up so fast! Hopefully nap-time is successful too, but with all the banging of the construction I doubt she’d even sleep in her old crib. (she is in there now attempting to sleep, but cries every time they bang loudly – I think she may be playing in her ball pit which is in her room temporarily).

Bryan had his one month visit to the doctor today and he really is my little chunky monkey (as I’ve been affectionately calling him)! He is now 10 lbs 6.5 oz which is a hefty 2 lbs heaver than 2 weeks ago! He only had to gain .5 to 1 oz a day and he gained about 2.4 oz a day! His head did grow a lot in circumference too, but I don’t know his birth head circumference. Today’s head circumference is 38.5 cm. He has grown a bit in height too he is now 20.75 in long in comparison to his birth height of 19.25 in long. He passed all the tests the doctor did on him and even shocked her by rolling over from tummy to back right on the table! (he learned to do that on Saturday the 12th his 4 week mark!) He got one shot, his second Hepatitis B one and cried quite a bit (not handling it as well as his sister does… is it a guy thing?!?) but recovered after he got his binkie.

Hopefully the contractors will be done today (but it is now 1 pm and they haven’t started the fascia so I don’t think they will be) and we can get out tomorrow to go to the park and enjoy this warm weather!

A son is born

I’m at home with Bryan Alan – Born on March 12 at 3:45 p.m.7lbs 15oz 19.25 in long! I actually did it drug free! Celeste is totally in love with her baby brother and can’t stop kissing him. She actually had a tantrum when I took him into the bedroom to feed him. Thanks for all the well wishes and comments from everyone! I’ll have some pictures up as soon as I feel well enough/have more time to add them 🙂
**Update** His story in a bit more detail
So we went into the hospital on March 11th to start the induction process.  Cervidil was started at night and the pitocin at 10 am.  It was a very smooth labor.  At 2:45 pm I was in the delivery room sitting up in a rocking chair playing video games with Alan when my parents came in.  At 3:30 pm just as I was about to tell Alan that the contractions were changing and we needed to have a nurse check me the nurse came in seeing the difference on the monitor.  My parents left and 15 min after that we were pushing.  20 min after that Bryan Alan Wood was born into the world!

My comforting ghost story

When my daughter was born, a firefly kept banging into our bedroom window each night, I (who believes in that, and my hubbie does not) told my husband how weird it was, he jokingly, and trying to make fun of me, told me it was my grandfather who had recently passed coming to visit my daughter. That night in a dream my hubbies grandfather who I had never meet or seen a picture of appeared, wagging his finger at me telling me that, “No! It was him visiting her!” No one believed me until I described his grandfathers appearance to my mother in law, I gave her goose bumps, she has no idea how I could have known exactly what he looked like, unless it really was him! I love the idea that her great grandparents are there for her and get to see her too!

*I keep hoping that we will see that again as summer gets closer to see if Grandpa comes and visits Bryan!*

Time goes by fast!

Well ever since late June things sure have been different around here! I found out I was pregnant with baby #2! We are due on March 17, 2008 St. Patrick’s Day. So far I’m feeling ok, not as great as I did when I was pregnant with Celeste, but alright. I have my next appointment with my midwife on Tuesday… Yup I said midwife. For those of you that are worried we will be delivering in the hospital. We love the personal experience and the time that we get from the midwife. This time around we are going to find out the sex of the baby, but keep the name a surprise.

Celeste’s first birthday has come and gone. It was a wonderful day. All I kept thinking is I can’t believe it has been a year already! Celeste is also talking a lot more now. She says MaMa, oggie (doggie), DaDa, yes, ut oh, and can sign milk, more, & all done. She took her first steps about a month ago now, but she just started in the last couple of days walking everywhere. So far no big bumps or bruises!
