Celeste’s antics on the ride home today

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — Crystal @ 3:36 pm

So on the way home from school today we were making animal sounds. We got a bit silly and I asked her what sound different people make. “Bryan makes the sound…?” I said, “Car!” replied Celeste. “Mommy makes the sound…?” I said, “ha ha ha ha” replied Celeste. “Daddy makes the sound..?” I said, “Moo!” replied Celeste.

After that I asked her what she did in school today with her friends. She told me that Hannah was now her friend, and Trent wasn’t. Which was odd, because all she talks about is her friend Trent. After more prodding, I discovered that Trent wasn’t her friend today, becuase he wasn’t in school.

A telephone pole fell down in front of the Southbury Training school today, so we had to detour through the school’s private roads to get around it. When passing what looked like a main building there was a huge lit up Christmas tree. Celeste got all excited and exclaimed… “Chipmunks!” (From the beginning of the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks, when their forest tree got cut down and turned into a Christmas tree.”)

Finally, as we pulled into the driveway I laughed and said, “Celeste you’re really cute today”. She looked at me very seriously and said. “Yes”.

Dentists and Glucose tolorance tests

Filed under: Uncategorized — Crystal @ 3:44 pm

Celeste had her first dentist appointment today and was an excellent patient.  She did everything they asked her to do!  She has no problems (no over bite/cross bite ect.), perfect teeth.  She also got her hair cut today and is all ready to start school next week!

I got the results back today of my 3 hour glucose tolerance test.  I failed, but barley.  You fail if 2 numbers are over.  She is a bit shocked that my number went up at the 3 hour and she wonders as well as I do, if the 2 hour vial and the 3 hour one got switched.  However, even if they did, I still failed because if you swap 2 and 3 the cutoff would have been the same number as my reading, failing me.  The midwife thinks that since it is such a borderline fail that diet will control it and I won’t need insulin this time.  We will see what the endocrinologist has to say.  Here is what the numbers were.

Fast-   107 (cut off was 95)
1 hour- 173 (cut off was 180)
2 hour- 111 (cut off was 155)
3 hour- 155 (cut off was 140)

There was a time when breastfeeding WAS on tv for our little ones.  To bad they don’t do it anymore.  Maybe it would seem more socially acceptable and natural if we exposed the world to nursing more at an early age.  The last segmant they redid later and replaced the breast shot with a bottle one  sticking out tongue to sesame street for that one!
